Project Recap
This project aims to create an immersive digital experience for potential camper van buyers, enabling them to explore, customise, and engage with camper van models through 3d visualisations and AR features. The main goal is to develop a mobile app that modernizes the camper van purchasing experience by making it accessible anywhere, empowering buyers to make informed choices without needing physical showrooms.
The development of this project will be documented in a series of structured blog posts, each focusing on specific components essential to achieving these objectives. The blog series will detail every process stage, presenting insights, justifications, and reflections for each decision. This organised documentation will outline the project’s progression and offer a transparent view of the thought process behind key design, technical, and strategic choices. These entries aim to capture a comprehensive and reflective account of the project’s development, from concept ideation to implementation.
Development Log Structure and Blog Posts
The development log of this project will be structured through a series of seven blog posts, each dedicated to a critical component of the project. These posts aim to carefully document the progress, insights, and decision-making processes from the conceptual phase to the final implementation. This structure provides a comprehensive overview of each stage of development, capturing the progression of ideas, addressing challenges, and showcasing solutions. Below is an outline of each post:
Blog Post 1: Conceptual Design and Brand Identity
This initial post will focus on establishing the project’s aesthetic direction and brand identity. It will cover the development of initial design concepts, the creation of a cohesive colour palette, typography selections, and the process of logo experimentation. Additionally, this post will discuss how the brand identity aligns with the preferences and expectations of the target audience.
Blog Post 2: 3D Modelling of the Camper Van
This entry will detail the 3d modelling process, examining the tools and software employed, including Blender, Vanspace 3d, and Meshy. Key milestones in the modelling process, such as layout testing and refinement, will be discussed. The post will also illustrate how the 3d models contribute to the virtual tour experience, enhancing the realism and engagement of the user interface.
Blog Post 3: AR and QR Code Integration
This post will document the integration of augmented reality (AR) elements, providing insights into the rationale behind utilizing AR to enrich the user experience. It will also further explain QR code functionality and how it facilitates user interactions with real-time 3D models, such as virtual van tours and accessing particular features within the project.
Blog Post 4: Designing the App Interface
The mobile application’s UX/UI development process will be examined in detail here. It will present early wireframes, layout decisions, and user journey flows. The objective is to design an intuitive, user-centred app that allows seamless navigation across van models, virtual tours, and project updates, enhancing user accessibility.
Blog Post 5: Marketing and User Engagement Strategy
This post will concentrate on the application’s marketing and engagement strategy, emphasising techniques to promote the app and foster brand recognition. It will also discuss social media planning, digital marketing channels, and potential print materials to increase the app’s visibility and encourage user engagement.
Blog Post 6: Website Landing Page Design
This post outlines the structure and content strategy of a single-page website that complements the mobile app. It includes the section layout (Hero, Conversions, AR Experience, and Final CTA), visual consistency with branding, and suggestions for dynamic movement to improve interactivity. This page serves as a gateway for marketing and AR demo access.
Blog Post 7: Final Testing and Refinements
As the project approaches completion, this post will cover the testing phases, user feedback collection, and final adjustments. It will also document usability testing outcomes, refinement of the app and AR features, and any improvements made to ensure an optimal user experience.
